Law Will Take Its Course if PTI’s Protest Turns Violent: Rana Sanaullah

Government urges joint strategy for Senate polls, calls on PTI to adopt a reconciliatory approach.

Islamabad: During a key session in the National Assembly concerning the upcoming Senate elections, Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and the Prime Minister’s Advisor on Political Affairs expressed detailed views on the prevailing political atmosphere.

Rana Sanaullah emphasized the importance of a unified approach among political parties for the Senate elections. “We have already presented our suggestions regarding the Senate elections to Maulana Fazlur Rehman, who also shared his opinion,” he said. “Our aim is to ensure that all political parties use their votes effectively to strengthen the democratic system.”

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister’s Advisor on Political Affairs criticized Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for allegedly promoting political instability in the country. He stated that if PTI genuinely desires dialogue, it must first adopt a more responsible and cooperative attitude. “Threatening statements and provocative protests are hindering the democratic process,” he added.

Interestingly, despite PTI’s aggressive public stance, reports suggest the party has been engaging in backdoor talks with the establishment, hinting at a parallel political strategy behind the scenes.

He further noted that while peaceful protest is the democratic right of every political party, any violent demonstration will not be tolerated. “The law will take its own course, and strict action will be taken against any disruptive elements,” he warned.

The advisor urged the PTI leadership to demonstrate maturity and seriousness in the upcoming political processes to help restore political stability in the country.

It is worth noting that the upcoming Senate elections in the following weeks are being viewed as a critical juncture, where cooperation—or confrontation—between the government and opposition may shape the future political landscape of Pakistan.
