Prime Minister Announces Free Electric Bikes and Loaders for Students and Unemployed Youth

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a major initiative to provide free electric bikes, rickshaws, and loaders to outstanding students and unemployed individuals across the country. The initiative aims to enhance academic performance, generate employment opportunities, and promote environmental protection.

The Prime Minister directed that the federal government should provide electric bikes to toppers from federal and provincial education boards. Under this scheme, 100,000 electric bikes and 3,000 electric rickshaws/loaders will be distributed. A special plan has been designed for position holders from the Federal Board to offer them financial and transportation support.

The announcement was made during a high-level review meeting chaired by the Prime Minister. It was attended by federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Attaullah Tarar, Special Assistant Haroon Akhtar, Chief Coordinator Musaddiq Malik, and other senior officials. The meeting focused on ensuring ease of access to electric vehicles, maintaining quality standards, launching a public awareness campaign, and developing an industrial ecosystem to support the initiative.

The Prime Minister emphasized the inclusion of 25% quota for women and 10% quota for individuals from Balochistan to ensure social equity and regional balance. He added:

  • Electric vehicles will help save fuel and reduce environmental pollution.

  • The initiative will support local industry.

  • The government will establish a comprehensive system for manufacturing and maintenance, ensuring quality services for users.

He instructed all relevant authorities to widely publicize the scheme and strictly adhere to safety and quality standards to ensure transparent and effective implementation.

This initiative is being seen as a landmark move to empower youth, promote education, create jobs, and push Pakistan toward eco-friendly transport policies that align with global sustainability standards.
