Islamabad – A rescue operation has resumed in search of a father and daughter who were swept away by a flash flood in a housing society in Islamabad.
The tragic incident occurred yesterday when Colonel (R) Ishaq and his daughter attempted to cross a rapidly flowing stream in their vehicle. Eyewitnesses reported that the water current suddenly intensified, causing the vehicle to lose control and be swept away.
Rescue teams, including Rescue 1122 and the district administration, temporarily halted the search operation overnight due to a rise in water levels in Nullah Lai and the Sawan River. However, operations resumed at dawn using boats, divers, and modern search equipment, focusing on areas within the Rawalpindi region near the river.
A video of the incident showing the vehicle being swept away by the floodwaters has gone viral on social media, drawing public concern and attention.
Continuous rainfall in Islamabad and surrounding areas has led to flooding in low-lying zones and raised alarms about further surges in streams and drains.
