If Women Killed for Honour, No Man Would Survive – Hania Aamir

Pakistani Actress Sparks Debate After Heart-Wrenching Honour Killing in Balochistan

In the wake of a heart-wrenching honour killing in Balochistan, a wave of grief and outrage has swept across Pakistan. Prominent actress Hania Aamir also raised her voice against this brutality, posting a powerful one-liner on Instagram that’s now fueling intense debate:

“If women started killing in the name of honour, perhaps no man would be left alive.”

Her statement has gone viral on social media, drawing attention to the deep-rooted gender biases and double standards in Pakistani society, especially around the notion of “honour.”

The comment came after a brutal incident in the Dagari area of Balochistan on July 19, where a woman named Bano and a man named Ehsanullah were mercilessly gunned down in an apparent honour killing. The two were reportedly not married and had been in hiding for over a year.

According to local reports, a tribal jirga summoned the pair, and after its decision, they were taken to an open field and executed by firing squad. A horrifying video of the incident went viral, sparking nationwide outrage.

Following the incident, police arrested 13 individuals, including Sardar Sherbaz Satakzai, who is believed to be a central figure in the execution. However, in a surprising twist, Bano’s mother later appeared in a video statement defending Sherbaz, claiming the killings were justified by tribal customs and appealing for the release of the arrested men.

Balochistan’s Chief Minister, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, condemned the killings as barbaric and vowed justice for the victims. “The government stands with the victims and will ensure justice is served,” he stated.
