Context: The Toshakhana-II Case

The Toshakhana-II case revolves around allegations of misuse of state gifts, known as Toshakhana, during Imran Khan’s tenure as Prime Minister. Toshakhana refers to the government treasury where gifts received by state officials are deposited. Allegations in the case primarily concern the sale or undervaluation of gifts received while in office.

The case has drawn significant national and international attention, not only due to the involvement of a former prime minister but also because of the broader political implications for Pakistan’s political landscape.

Next Steps

The court has adjourned the hearing until October 2, when cross-examination of the 20th witness will continue. Observers note that the proceedings are being closely monitored by both the media and political stakeholders, as the outcome could have implications for Khan’s political future.

Legal experts suggest that cross-examination is a crucial stage in the case, as it tests the credibility of the prosecution’s witnesses and may influence the eventual verdict.
