Symbolism and Cultural Significance
Long Yuxiang, Chairman of CICCC, described the fashion show as more than a cultural event, calling it a reflection of the strategic, all-weather partnership between China and Pakistan.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, said the event symbolized the “living spirit” of the ancient Silk Road, serving as a modern bridge of fabric, art, and friendship. He highlighted that the show would promote deeper trade and cultural partnerships between the two nations.
Historical Context
Ambassador Hashmi noted the timing was especially meaningful, coinciding with the 60th anniversary of President Ayub Khan’s visit to the same section of the Great Wall, marking the first-ever visit by a Pakistani leader.
