Pakistani leader to highlight investment opportunities and strengthen ties with Saudi leadership at high-profile economic forum.

High-Level Delegation Accompanies the Prime Minister

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, leading a high-level delegation to attend the ninth edition of the Future Investment Initiative (FII). Earlier, he departed for the Kingdom on a three-day official visit, details of which can be read here.

The visit comes at the invitation of Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, underscoring the close and long-standing partnership between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

According to official sources, the Pakistani delegation includes Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistants Tariq Fatemi and Bilal bin Saqib.

Future Investment Initiative: Davos in the Desert

The FII conference, often referred to as Davos in the Desert, is a global platform launched in 2017 by the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF). It brings together world leaders, corporate executives, and innovators to explore emerging trends in investment, sustainability, and technology.

This year’s event focuses on unlocking new avenues of prosperity and shaping a sustainable global economy. Topics such as energy transition, artificial intelligence, and inclusive growth are expected to dominate discussions.

Strengthening Bilateral and Economic Ties

During his stay, Prime Minister Sharif will hold bilateral meetings with Saudi leaders, including Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Talks will focus on expanding trade, investment, and energy cooperation, as well as enhancing collaboration in human resource development — particularly in light of the large Pakistani workforce in the Kingdom.

Saudi Arabia is home to over 2.5 million Pakistani expatriates, whose remittances contribute significantly to Pakistan’s economy. In recent years, both nations have deepened cooperation through joint ventures in renewable energy, mining, and infrastructure development.

Promoting Pakistan’s Vision for Sustainable Growth

At the conference, the prime minister will present Pakistan’s economic vision, emphasizing the country’s commitment to sustainable and inclusive growth. He is also expected to hold discussions with international investors and global financial institutions to highlight Pakistan’s investment potential across multiple sectors.

Officials in Islamabad view the visit as a key opportunity to attract foreign investment and strengthen Pakistan’s strategic and economic partnership with Saudi Arabia — a cornerstone of its regional diplomacy.
