Abu Dhabi: A Bangladeshi electrician working in the United Arab Emirates has become an overnight millionaire after winning a massive AED 25 million Big Ticket lottery, equivalent to approximately PKR 1.93 billion.
43-year-old Mohammad Nasir Bilal, who has been working in Abu Dhabi for the past 14 years, bought the winning ticket (number 061080) on June 24 from the Big Ticket counter at Abu Dhabi International Airport. His family continues to reside in Bangladesh.
When the hosts of the Big Ticket draw, Richard and Bushra, attempted to reach him to deliver the life-changing news, he was initially unavailable. However, the Big Ticket team eventually managed to contact him and confirmed the win.
Speaking after the announcement, Nasir expressed disbelief, saying he had been purchasing lottery tickets every month for the past 12 years, always hopeful that one day he would be the lucky winner. “I still can’t believe this is happening,” he shared, overcome with emotion.
The Big Ticket Lottery has become a symbol of hope for expatriate workers across the UAE. Each month, millions try their luck, but only a few fortunate individuals win. Mohammad Nasir Bilal’s story stands as a beacon of perseverance and belief, inspiring others to never stop dreaming.
