CDF Munir Stresses Afghan Taliban Must End Terrorist Support for Peace

Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir has reiterated that lasting peace between Pakistan and Afghanistan depends on the Afghan Taliban regime renouncing support for terrorism and terrorist organisations. The statement was issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Wednesday.

Visit to Wana and Border Review

Field Marshal Munir visited Wana in South Waziristan to review the security situation and operational preparedness along Pakistan’s western border. During the visit, he received a comprehensive briefing on the prevailing security environment, ongoing intelligence-based operations, and measures for border management.

The COAS was specifically briefed on Operation Ghazab lil-Haq and the latest developments along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, highlighting the military’s efforts to neutralise threats emanating from across the frontier.

Interaction with Troops

During his visit, Field Marshal Munir interacted with officers and troops deployed in forward areas. He commended their professionalism, vigilance, and high morale during ongoing skirmishes, praising their unwavering commitment to protecting Pakistan’s sovereignty and ensuring regional stability.

He emphasised that the use of Afghan soil by terrorist groups such as Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan for attacks against Pakistan is unacceptable. Munir reaffirmed that all necessary measures would be taken to eliminate threats originating from across the border.

Tribute to Martyrs

The Field Marshal laid a floral wreath at the Shuhada Monument to honour soldiers who sacrificed their lives defending Pakistan. He offered Fateha and stressed that the sacrifices of the martyrs remain the cornerstone of Pakistan’s security and resilience.

Upon arrival, Field Marshal Munir was received by the Corps Commander, Peshawar, highlighting the importance of leadership coordination along the western border.
