Tianjin, China (September 2, 2025) – Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, has said that Phase-II of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will take bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and China to new strategic and economic heights.

During his visit to Tianjin, the minister discussed emerging opportunities for Pakistan-China collaboration and toured the Huan Sheng New Energy Solar Plant, a state-of-the-art automated facility representing the fourth industrial revolution.

New Opportunities in Ports, Energy, and Livestock Sectors

Speaking to media and stakeholders, Ahsan Iqbal highlighted that CPEC Phase-II will focus on deepening cooperation in port development, renewable energy, and the livestock sector. He noted that Pakistan stands to benefit immensely from China’s advanced technologies, particularly in green energy and agriculture.

He described the Huan Sheng plant as a model for next-generation energy infrastructure, expressing Pakistan’s intention to leverage modern energy technologies to address its growing power needs sustainably.

Biotechnology and Livestock Cooperation

The minister emphasized enhancing cooperation in agricultural biotechnology, stating that Pakistan is working with China to establish platforms for knowledge and technology transfer. He urged Chinese companies to invest in Pakistan’s solar and green energy sectors, highlighting the long-term economic benefits for both countries.

During the visit, Ahsan Iqbal also toured a veterinary vaccine manufacturing facility, where he invited the company to set up a plant in Pakistan. He said that improving animal health is critical for Pakistan’s agri-based economy, and reducing disease in livestock would help boost meat exports significantly.

Strategic Alignment and Shared Vision

The visit also comes in the backdrop of China reaffirming its support for Pakistan in its fight against terrorism, further underlining the strategic depth of the bilateral relationship.

Ahsan Iqbal concluded that CPEC Phase-II is not just a continuation of infrastructure projects, but a leap toward economic transformation, industrial cooperation, and human development – aligned with Pakistan’s long-term vision and China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
