A Record-Breaking Feat in Hurghada
Ashraf Mahrous, a 44-year-old Egyptian strongman famously nicknamed “Kabonga,” stunned spectators and the global strength community by pulling a 700-ton naval ship using only his teeth. The extraordinary feat took place in the Red Sea coastal city of Hurghada, where hundreds of onlookers gathered to witness the spectacle.
Not stopping there, Mahrous went on to pull two additional ships weighing a combined 1,150 tons, further cementing his reputation as one of the strongest men on Earth. Speaking to the media after the event, he expressed gratitude and pride: “Thanks to God, I have proven that I am the strongest man in the world.”
He added that videos and photographs of the record-breaking attempt will be submitted to the Guinness World Records for official recognition.
Breaking Previous Records
Mahrous’s achievement surpasses previous records for ship-pulling with teeth. In 2018, a 614-ton vessel had been pulled in a similar feat, but Mahrous’s recent performance exceeds that by a significant margin.
This is not Mahrous’s first record-breaking attempt. In March 2025, he pulled a 279-ton train for 10 meters, setting another world record. Three years prior, he had pulled a 15,730-kilogram truck using his teeth. These repeated successes highlight his sustained strength and rigorous training regimen.
Training, Diet, and Lifestyle
Weighing 155 kilograms (approximately 342 pounds), Mahrous follows an intensive training schedule, dedicating six hours daily to strength conditioning. His diet is high in protein and meticulously planned. It includes 12 eggs, two whole chickens, five kilograms of fish, and other protein-rich foods. Remarkably, he does not rely on supplements but emphasizes complete sleep and a balanced diet as the foundation of his physical power.
Mahrous’s journey to extreme strength began at a young age. He has reported lifting heavy objects to earn a living since he was nine years old. Over time, he trained in martial arts, including Kung Fu, kickboxing, and wrestling. His feats of strength are extraordinary—even capable of pushing a car with a single finger.
Ambitious Future Goals
Ashraf Mahrous has set his sights on even more ambitious challenges. His next goal is to pull a submarine with his teeth, a feat that would surpass anything previously attempted. He is currently seeking permission from the Egyptian government to attempt this extraordinary feat.
In addition, Mahrous has expressed a dream of pulling an aircraft using the muscles around his eyes—a testament to his ambition and unconventional approach to strength challenges.
Context: The Extreme World of Strength Feats
While feats like Mahrous’s may seem almost superhuman, they are part of a niche community of extreme strength athletes. These athletes often combine rigorous training, extraordinary nutrition, and careful conditioning to achieve records that defy ordinary human limits. Guinness World Records has previously documented similar acts, such as pulling planes or trucks with teeth, harnessing the body in precise, controlled ways.
Mahrous’s latest accomplishments not only showcase his personal dedication but also highlight Egypt on the international stage in a unique, physically spectacular way.
