Relief for Power Consumers: Electricity Price Likely to Drop

CPPAs Proposes Rs. 0.65 per Unit Reduction in June's Fuel Adjustment Charges

Good News for Electricity Consumers

A reduction of Rs. 0.65 per unit in electricity prices is expected for the month of June — a welcome relief for power consumers across the country.

The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has submitted a request to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for a reduction in electricity tariffs under the fuel price adjustment (FPA) for June. The proposed decrease is Rs. 0.65 per unit.

NEPRA is scheduled to hold a formal hearing on this request on July 30, after which a final decision will be announced. If approved, the reduced rates will be applied for one month and will benefit electricity consumers nationwide — except for lifeline users and residents of Karachi, who are excluded from this relief.

This potential reduction comes at a time when inflation is weighing heavily on the public, and any cut in the fuel price adjustment could offer partial relief in monthly electricity bills.
