Ongoing Strikes Despite Ceasefire
Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have once again raised fears of escalating violence, as three more Palestinians were killed on Tuesday despite a ceasefire agreement — similar to previous deadly airstrikes on Gaza that killed over 100 Palestinians, including 46 children. According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, the strikes represent a clear violation of the truce that was endorsed by U.S. President Joe Biden last month.
Rescue teams in central Gaza reported discovering 35 unidentified bodies beneath the rubble of a destroyed medical clinic. Authorities said the remains were beyond recognition, reflecting the severity of the latest bombardment.
Mounting Casualties Over Two Years
The health ministry stated that more than 69,180 Palestinians have been killed since Israel’s military campaign began over two years ago. In addition, at least 120,000 people have been injured, many of them women and children. These figures underscore the continuing humanitarian crisis in the blockaded enclave, where infrastructure, hospitals, and essential services have been repeatedly targeted or damaged.
International organizations, including the United Nations and Human Rights Watch, have warned that the repeated attacks on civilian areas could amount to violations of international law. However, efforts to renew peace talks have stalled amid mutual accusations of ceasefire breaches.
Civilian Areas Under Fire
The Palestinian group Hamas condemned the latest strikes, accusing the Israeli military of deliberately targeting residential buildings and civilian infrastructure. The group said that most of the recent bombings hit two-storey apartment blocks, displacing families already struggling with shortages of food, water, and electricity.
Gaza’s Civil Defense Authority confirmed that the clinic from which the 35 bodies were recovered had been serving displaced residents seeking basic medical aid. The destruction and the condition of the bodies show the intensity of the attacks, an official said.
Humanitarian Crisis Deepens
The ongoing conflict has left Gaza’s health system on the brink of collapse. With limited fuel and medicine supplies, hospitals are struggling to treat the growing number of casualties. Aid convoys face difficulty entering the territory due to border closures and security restrictions.
As violence continues despite international calls for restraint, residents of Gaza remain trapped between airstrikes and deprivation — a grim reminder that even ceasefires offer little protection in one of the world’s most densely populated conflict zones.
