Karachi – In a significant development regarding the case of actress and model Humaira Asghar, who was found dead in a flat in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA), her family has now agreed to claim her body. According to Dawn News, the actress’s brother-in-law has contacted authorities and informed them that he is traveling to Karachi to receive the remains.
Initially, Humaira Asghar’s father had declined to claim the body after hearing about her death, reportedly due to the emotional trauma and severe depression he experienced. The strained relationship between the actress and her parents was also cited as a reason for the delay in the family’s response. However, the family has now reversed its decision and will transfer the body to Lahore for burial after completing the required legal procedures.
According to police officials, when the body was discovered in the flat, it was in an unrecognizable and severely decomposed state. DNA samples have been sent to a laboratory for official identification.
It may be recalled that Humaira Asghar’s body was found yesterday in a flat located in Ittehad Commercial, Phase VI of DHA Karachi. DIG South Zone Syed Asad Raza confirmed that she had been living alone in the apartment and that the cause of her death is still under investigation.
