In a major development in the case of model and actress Humaira Asghar’s mysterious death, her family has arrived in Karachi and has now agreed to claim her body.

The actress was found dead in an apartment in Karachi’s Defence area, and initially, her family had declined to take custody of the body. According to police sources, her brother and brother-in-law have now met with senior police officials, including the SSP South, to discuss the handover. A formal letter for the body’s release is expected to be issued shortly.
Earlier, the actress’s father had told police that he had severed ties with Humaira years ago and was not willing to receive her body. However, the family has since changed its stance. Her brother confirmed his arrival in Karachi within a few hours and expressed willingness to proceed with the handover process.
Taking notice of the situation, Sindh Minister for Culture and Tourism, Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, had earlier announced that if the family did not receive the body, the Department of Culture would arrange for Humaira Asghar’s burial. The minister had contacted the Additional IG Karachi and instructed the DIG East to issue an official letter for body handover, emphasizing the government’s humanitarian responsibility.
Minister Shah stated that Humaira Asghar was not an abandoned soul; if needed, the Sindh government would act as her guardian. He termed the incident extremely tragic and assured that the government would play its role with compassion and dignity.
It is important to recall that Humaira Asghar’s decomposed body was found on July 8 in a DHA apartment. While initial police reports suggested the body was about 20 days old, later findings indicated that it may have been over six months old. Due to the condition of the remains, blood samples could not be collected. Investigations into the cause of death are ongoing, with forensic reports still pending.
Humaira Asghar was considered a rising talent in Pakistan’s entertainment industry, and her untimely death has left many questions unanswered.
