Imran Khan’s Sons Delay Pakistan Visit Amid Cold Response in the US

Senior Journalist Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami Reveals Lack of Political Support During US Trip Led to Change in Plans

Renowned journalist and political analyst Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami has revealed that Imran Khan’s sons, Qasim and Suleman, have postponed their visit to Pakistan following a lukewarm response during their recent trip to the United States.

Speaking on Dunya News’ program “Nuqta-e-Nazar”, Shami said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership had high hopes from former US President Donald Trump and other American figures. Although Qasim and Suleman met with some personalities during their stay, they failed to receive any concrete assurances or political support.

In a poetic tone, Shami summed up the situation:

“I make plans, then rethink and break them,

Lest something goes wrong… lest something goes wrong.”

He added that even after returning from the US, there was no encouraging signal regarding their potential arrival in Pakistan. PTI is reportedly concerned that their presence in the country might lead to complications—both security-related and political.

Shami also pointed out a contradiction: Imran Khan has repeatedly blamed the US for orchestrating the downfall of his government. In that context, if attempts to secure his release now originate from Washington, it could seriously damage PTI’s political narrative.

Furthermore, bringing his sons into the spotlight could harm Khan’s long-standing position against dynastic politics—another reason the party may have reconsidered their plans.
