Tehran: Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, issued a stern warning to the United States and Israel, declaring that any further military aggression against Iran will be met with a retaliation far more severe and decisive than the previous response.
In a televised address aired on state TV, Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized that the missile strike on the U.S. military base “al-Udeid” in Qatar was merely an initial warning, and that Iran’s true power is yet to be demonstrated. He stated clearly that the Iranian nation stands united against the U.S. and its “puppet Zionist regime,” and any future attack will target a location even more significant than al-Udeid.
It is worth noting that last month Iran launched a missile attack on the al-Udeid base in Qatar, which is considered one of the most strategic U.S. military installations in the Middle East. This response came after a joint Israeli-American strike on Iranian nuclear facilities, escalating fears of a broader conflict in the region.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump also criticized Israel’s actions, calling the airstrikes on Iran “unacceptable.” Read more on Trump’s stance here.
Khamenei also instructed Iranian diplomats to be fully prepared and active on the diplomatic front, though he did not detail the specific directives.
Meanwhile, Iran’s parliament took a firm stance, declaring that no nuclear negotiations with the U.S. will be possible unless all preconditions are removed.
On the other hand, the U.S., France, Germany, and the U.K. have urged Iran to return to the nuclear deal negotiations, warning that failure to do so by the end of August could lead to the reimposition of United Nations sanctions. However, Iran insists that it will not bow to external pressure or deadlines.
It should be recalled that Iran and world powers signed a nuclear agreement in 2015, from which the United States unilaterally withdrew in 2018. Since then, tensions have steadily escalated, with recent military confrontations increasing the threat of war in the region.
