Karachi: The city’s traffic authorities have issued a detailed traffic management plan ahead of the Youm-e-Ali procession, scheduled for March 11 (21st of Ramadan), to mark the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (RA).

Youm-e-Ali is observed annually on the 21st of Ramadan, and large mourning processions are held across Pakistan to honor the memory of Hazrat Ali (RA). Karachi, being a major urban center, traditionally witnesses a large turnout for these commemorations.

Procession Route and Timings

Officials stated that the main procession will start at 1:00 pm from Nishtar Park and follow its traditional route, concluding at Imambargah Hussainia Iranian in Kharadar. Authorities have emphasized that commuters should expect significant delays along the procession path.

Road Closures and Traffic Diversions

To ensure smooth movement and public safety, the following traffic arrangements will be implemented:

  • MA Jinnah Road will be closed to general traffic from Guru Mandir to Tower.
  • Corridor Three, stretching from Saddar Dawakhana to Regal, will also remain closed.
  • Traffic coming from District Central will be diverted from Lasbela towards Nishtar Road Garden.
  • Vehicles arriving from Liaquatabad will be rerouted from Guru Mandir towards Lasbela and Garden.
  • Commuters traveling from Hasan Square to Peoples Chowrangi are advised to use New MA Jinnah Road, Jail Flyover, Teen Hatti, and Nishtar Road as alternative routes.
  • Traffic on Shahrah-e-Quaideen will not be allowed beyond the Society Light Signal.

Special Arrangements for Procession Participants

  • Vehicles with special passes participating in the procession will be allowed to enter from the Society Light Signal.
  • Vehicles carrying Niaz and Sabeel will be permitted entry from MA Jinnah Road Tower.

Traffic police personnel will be deployed at all major diversion points and alternative routes to assist commuters and ensure smooth traffic flow. Authorities have urged residents and drivers to plan their travel in advance and avoid the procession routes wherever possible.
