Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to provide stronger and more open support for Iran amid escalating tensions with Israel and the United States.
According to international media reports, Khamenei sent a message through Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, emphasizing the need for Russia’s active backing in the face of what he termed increasing acts of “aggression” by Israel and the U.S.
Sources claim Iran is becoming disappointed with the current level of Russian support and is now pressing for a more assertive stance—specifically against the threats posed by Washington and Tel Aviv.
The message reportedly conveyed Khamenei’s dissatisfaction with Russia’s silence on the recent U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, despite Moscow’s condemnation of Israeli attacks.
According to News Alert’s Urdu coverage, Khamenei’s message was personally delivered to President Putin by Iran’s foreign minister, emphasizing the urgency of stronger Russian support.
While it remains unclear what specific form of assistance Iran expects from Russia, the request highlights Tehran’s growing concern over regime-change threats and the targeting of its leadership.
Relations between Russia and Iran have historically been complex, but recent years have seen growing strategic ties. Russia is currently assisting Iran in building two additional reactors at the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant under a 20-year cooperation agreement.
Observers note that this renewed outreach could reshape geopolitical alliances, especially if Russia decides to take a more confrontational approach toward Israeli and American military actions in the region.
