Accident During Morning Walk
Renowned Pakistani actor Mustafa Qureshi, celebrated for his powerful performances in over 700 films, has suffered a leg fracture following a fall outside his home. Doctors have advised the veteran star to remain on complete bed rest for at least six weeks.
Qureshi shared details of the incident, explaining that the accident occurred shortly after dawn prayers. While walking outside his house for his regular morning exercise, he stumbled into an unrepaired pit on the road. The street was dug up and never repaired, he said. My foot got stuck, and I fell hard.
The fall also caused his head to hit the ground, but fortunately, he escaped serious head injuries. I’m thankful to God that my eye was saved, he added, expressing relief that the injuries were not life-threatening.
Concerns Over Poor Infrastructure
Following the incident, Qureshi voiced frustration over the deteriorating state of urban infrastructure. In a candid remark, he said, May God give wisdom to our leaders to fix the city’s roads.
The 85-year-old actor emphasized that neglected road maintenance poses a danger to citizens, particularly the elderly. People risk their lives every day because of broken roads and open ditches, he said.
His comments have resonated with many on social media, where residents across Pakistan — especially in Karachi and Lahore — frequently complain about unsafe streets and delayed repair work. According to Pakistan’s National Highway Authority, thousands of kilometers of urban roads across major cities require immediate maintenance.

Qureshi revealed that he had been scheduled to attend the launch ceremony of senior politician Raza Rabbani’s new book on the same day. However, the injury forced him to cancel his appearance. The actor expressed disappointment at missing the event but said his health must take priority.
