Pakistan Must Stand Firmly with Iran: Fazlur Rehman

JUI-F Chief urges bold stance on Iran, Gaza, and Muslim unity—warns Pakistan could be next in line.

Islamabad – Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that Pakistan should openly stand by Iran, adding that the country must also take a clear stance in support of Gaza. Addressing the National Assembly, he warned that after Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, and now Iran, the next target could be Pakistan.

During his address, Fazlur Rehman remarked,

“We are with Iran, and Pakistan should take a bold and open stand with them. We must stand firmly with Gaza as well.”

Referring to global politics, he questioned the U.S. role, particularly during the Trump era, saying:

“I don’t know what happened in the Trump-Army Chief meeting, but I believe Trump may have said that there should be no war between Pakistan-India or Iran-Israel. However, he likely did not mention the Palestine-Israel conflict, where unarmed Muslims, women, and children are being killed with no global concern.”

He emphasized that Pakistan is the most powerful and capable Muslim country—a nuclear power—and has the potential to lead the Muslim Ummah, but lamented the current state:

“We are in a defensive position. How can we lead?”

He further criticized the international community’s double standards, saying:

“When Iran responds to Israel, its hands are tied. When Pakistan responds to India, our hands are tied. But Israel is never stopped. Over 60,000 Palestinians have been martyred, 1,500 killed in the last two days alone, and still, Zionist aggression continues.”

Fazlur Rehman dismissed the OIC and UN Security Council as ineffective, calling them “mere shows” with no real authority. On India-Pakistan relations, he said:

“It wasn’t a war between India and Pakistan—it was a war with Modi. Even India’s opposition and Sikh community weren’t supporting their government. Fighting alone will always lead to this.”

He reiterated:

“We are with Iran. Pakistan should take Iran into confidence. Gaza must be openly supported. Zionists and Hindutva forces are allies. After Iran, Pakistan is the target. Destroying Pakistan’s nuclear capability is their agenda.”

He expressed concern that friendly nations are drifting away, and the warmth of past relationships is fading.

On child marriage legislation, Fazlur Rehman strongly criticized the bill, saying:

“All religious scholars from every school of thought oppose this bill. You are making legitimate marriage difficult and promoting immorality instead. You are trampling on Quranic principles. Let there be open debate on this issue. We’ll prove that the liberal NGO mindset is dark, while Quran and Sunnah provide enlightenment.”

Fazlur Rehman also criticized the government’s federal budget, calling it “unimpressive and IMF-imposed”:

“The government shuts down the voices it dislikes. It no longer has the capability to draft a real budget. This budget is dictated by the IMF and simply read aloud.”

He added that funds for previously inaugurated projects in his constituency have now been halted:

“This country needs a revolution, not traditional politics. People must be made aware so they can solve their own problems.”
