Lahore – The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued a flood warning due to the rising water levels in Rivers Chenab and Jhelum, including nearby tributaries. The warning comes amid forecasts of low to moderate-level flooding between July 28 and July 31, potentially affecting several regions of Punjab.
PDMA has alerted all district and divisional administrations in the vulnerable areas. Commissioners of Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Multan, and Dera Ghazi Khan, as well as Deputy Commissioners of Gujrat, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Hafizabad, Jhang, Sargodha, Khushab, Khanewal, Chiniot, Kot Addu, and Muzaffargarh have been directed to take precautionary measures.
Punjab Relief Commissioner Nabeel Javed has instructed all agencies to stay alert. Rescue 1122 and WASA teams have been asked to remain on standby, and emergency control rooms have been activated across key locations.
He emphasized that flood relief camps must be equipped with food, clean water, and other basic necessities. Evacuation of people and livestock from riverbanks is to be carried out without delay. All departments — including local government, agriculture, irrigation, health, livestock, forestry, and transport — have been mobilized to ensure a coordinated emergency response.
DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia has urged the public to strictly follow safety advisories, cooperate with authorities in case of evacuation, and report any emergencies by calling the PDMA helpline 1129. He reassured citizens that the Punjab government is fully committed to protecting lives and livestock during any potential flood situation.
