Fuel Prices Likely to Increase in Pakistan from July 15

Petrol may rise by Rs6.60 and diesel by Rs5.27 per litre; kerosene and light diesel rates expected to drop

Karachi – Starting July 15, 2025, fuel prices in Pakistan are expected to be revised for the next 15 days, with a likely increase in petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) rates, while kerosene and light diesel oil (LDO) may see slight reductions.

According to energy analysts, global fuel price hikes are playing a major role in influencing Pakistan’s domestic adjustments. Petrol prices may increase by Rs6.60 per liter, bringing the new expected rate to Rs273.39 per liter. Meanwhile, HSD is likely to rise by Rs5.27 per liter, taking its possible new price to Rs278.25 per liter.

On the other hand, a reduction of Rs3.47 per liter in kerosene and Rs2.23 per liter in LDO is being considered, offering minor relief in select fuel categories.

These expected adjustments are reportedly based on recommendations submitted by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). However, the final decision is subject to approval by the Prime Minister, after which the Ministry of Finance will officially announce the revised prices.

It is worth noting that the government reviews petroleum prices every 15 days, depending on international crude rates, rupee-dollar parity, petroleum levy, and sales tax structure. Analysts warn that the anticipated price hike could further exert pressure on inflation, impacting the broader economy.
