Modern Sports Facilities for Athletes

In a historic first for Rawalpindi, the city now boasts a world-class swimming pool and a state-of-the-art players’ hostel. These facilities have been designed to meet international standards, providing both athletes and the public with access to modern sports infrastructure.

The inauguration was led by Punjab’s Provincial Minister for Sports, Faisal Ayub Khokhar. During the ceremony, he highlighted the government’s commitment to improving sports facilities in the province. He also announced plans to construct a multi-purpose sports complex in Rawalpindi, with the long-term goal of extending similar projects to other districts across Punjab.

Players’ Hostel: Modern Accommodation and Training Facilities

The newly built players’ hostel, constructed at a cost of approximately PKR 181 million (about USD 1.1 million), offers 80 beds along with modern residential and training facilities. The hostel is designed to provide athletes with a comfortable environment for both living and rigorous training, enhancing their preparation for national and international competitions.

World-Class Swimming Pool

The swimming pool, which cost PKR 217 million (roughly USD 1.3 million), is equipped with advanced water filtration, heating, and timing systems. These features ensure that both professional swimmers and the general public can enjoy a safe and high-quality swimming experience.

Punjab Government’s Sports Vision

Faisal Ayub Khokhar emphasized that these initiatives are part of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision to modernize sports facilities across the province. He stated that the revival of the Liaquat Bagh Sports Complex reflects the government’s commitment to promoting sports and providing athletes with world-class infrastructure.

These developments signal a significant transformation in the sports landscape under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s leadership, Khokhar said.

Looking Ahead

The new swimming pool and players’ hostel are expected to serve as a hub for both professional training and community recreation. Officials hope that these facilities will encourage more youth participation in sports and contribute to the overall development of athletics in Punjab.
