Record Rainfall but Minimal Damage , Role of Rescue and Police Remarkable: CM Maryam Nawaz

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has expressed satisfaction over the minimal damage caused despite record-breaking rainfall in the province.

She praised the efforts of PDMA, Rescue 1122, district administrations, and the police for their timely and coordinated response to the extreme weather.

Speaking on the situation, CM Maryam Nawaz stated, “Alhamdulillah, although we experienced record rainfall, the damage has been minimal — a testament to our efficient planning, swift response, and proactive measures.” She extended special appreciation to PDMA, Rescue 1122, the police, and district authorities, and also thanked the military for its assistance.

Highlighting the challenges faced during the downpour, the Chief Minister noted that while some areas experienced standing water and partial flooding, the civil bureaucracy and public administration acted swiftly to prevent large-scale destruction. She directed that water in all affected areas must be cleared immediately and called for a detailed assessment of infrastructure damage to ensure timely support for farmers and other affected individuals.

Maryam Nawaz further added that hundreds of people were safely rescued across various districts, with rescue services performing exceptionally. She also lauded the police for their dedication and service during the emergency.

Issuing a timely warning, the Chief Minister reminded officials that the next monsoon spell is expected around July 31 and emphasized the need for full preparedness in advance to ensure a similarly effective response.

In recent days, intense rainfall had disrupted normal life in Lahore and several other districts of Punjab. However, due to the provincial government’s quick and efficient handling of the situation, major losses in life or property were largely avoided — a contrast to past administrations which often faced criticism for poor crisis management.
