Medical Leave Following Dengue Diagnosis
Documents recently released reveal that Superintendent of Police (SP) Adil Akbar, who reportedly died by suicide, had submitted a medical leave request days before the incident. According to the medical report, Akbar tested positive for dengue fever.
Following his diagnosis, he visited Polyclinic Hospital on October 20 for a check-up and applied for three days of medical leave, which was subsequently approved by the Islamabad Deputy Inspector General (DIG).

Sources indicate that SP Akbar resumed duty on October 23 after completing his medical leave. Police sources also stated that he had secured admission to a foreign university and had visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for verification of required documents. These details suggest that he was actively engaged in professional and personal plans prior to his death, complicating initial assumptions about his mental state.

Police and security experts have noted that an accidental discharge of the SMG (submachine gun) cannot be ruled out. Preliminary investigations indicate the bullet trajectory was at a 65-degree angle, while PSP officers are generally not trained extensively in handling SMG firearms.
