Kathmandu, Nepal, Pakistani rapper Talha Anjum has ignited widespread debate online after raising the Indian flag during a concert in Nepal. The incident has divided fans and social media users, drawing both criticism and support.
Rapper Responds to Backlash
In response to the controversy, Anjum took to social media, writing:
“My heart has no place for hate. Art has no borders. If me raising an Indian flag sparks controversy so be it. I’ll do it again. Will never care about the media, the war-mongering governments and their propagandas. Urdu rap is and always will be borderless.”
The rapper, who is currently on tour in Kathmandu, shared videos from the concert which quickly went viral over the weekend.

Mixed Reactions Online
The act divided fans across the border. Some criticised Anjum for showing support to India despite political tensions and past conflicts. One social media user commented:
“India is doing everything it can to spread terrorism in Pakistan. They even killed innocent Pakistanis, while Talha Anjum is busy lifting and wearing an Indian flag.”
Others highlighted India’s restrictions on his music platforms. “Talha Anjum waved the Indian flag at a concert in Nepal, despite the fact that his Spotify and YouTube channels are blocked in India. What a pathetic nation we are,” wrote one critic.

Meanwhile, many fans defended his actions, praising his boldness. “Even if he is done for views, he knows the repercussions that Pakistani people will hate it, but he did this anyway,” commented one supporter. Another wrote: “Raising any country’s flag won’t make you anti-Pakistan. We will always support you.”
Previous Indian Debut Cancelled
Talha Anjum was scheduled to make his Indian debut last December, with concerts planned in Mumbai, Bengaluru, and New Delhi. However, the tour was cancelled due to organisational and financial disputes, limiting his performances in India.
Despite polarising opinions, the rapper has once again captured the attention of audiences online, with social media users debating his actions across multiple platforms.
