Former U.S. President Donald Trump has compared American airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities to the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II.
These U.S. strikes targeted key Iranian nuclear sites, significantly altering the regional power dynamics. Read the full report on the U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities here.
According to international media, while addressing a NATO summit in The Hague, Trump said that the mission was accomplished after spending trillions of dollars, and now other NATO countries must also share the financial burden.
Trump further stated that had the U.S. not struck Iran, the war with Israel would still be ongoing. He claimed that previous attempts had failed, but under his leadership, the mission was successful.
He added, “I don’t want to cite Hiroshima or Nagasaki as examples, but fundamentally, it was the American strike that ended the Iran-Israel war.”
These remarks have sparked widespread backlash on social media and from international communities. Human rights organizations have condemned the comparison, calling it reckless and dangerous.
Taking credit for the ceasefire between Iran and Israel, Trump declared, “I don’t think there will ever be another war between the two nations. Iran’s nuclear capabilities have been neutralized.”
