Kuala Lumpur: Pakistan’s squash stars Noor Zaman and Nasir Iqbal have stormed into the final of the Asian Doubles Squash Championship 2025 after a tense semi-final win over Malaysia. The duo edged past Syafiq Kamal and Duncan Lee with a 2-1 victory, sealing the match in 68 minutes with scores of 10-11, 11-9, and 11-9.
Their victory sets up a highly anticipated final against India’s top-seeded pair, Abhay Singh and Velavan Senthilkumar, scheduled for Thursday. The Indian team earlier defeated Pakistan’s Muhammad Asim Khan and Farhan Mehboob in straight sets to book their spot in the final.
Zaman and Iqbal, seeded second, have delivered consistent performances throughout the tournament. They previously overcame Korea’s Jiang Min Ryu and Jaijin Yoo in the quarterfinals and secured commanding wins in the group stage over the Philippines and South Korea.
Noor Zaman, the reigning World U-23 champion, is aiming for redemption after falling short in the Asian Individual Championship earlier this month. Now, alongside the experienced Iqbal, he stands just one step away from the doubles crown, with national pride and regional rivalry heightening the stakes.
