Mufrihat, Saudi Arabia, At least 42 Indian pilgrims from Hyderabad are feared dead following a tragic bus accident while travelling from Mecca to Madinah early on Monday morning. The collision, involving a passenger bus and a diesel tanker, occurred at approximately 1:00 am Pakistan Standard Time (PST) in the Mufrihat area, local media reported.
Only One Survivor Reported
The bus was carrying 43 passengers, with only a single individual believed to have survived. The survivor has been admitted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, authorities said. Emergency teams are currently engaged in recovery and identification operations at the crash site.
Families Among Victims
Preliminary reports indicate that the group mainly comprised families, including a significant number of women and children. According to MediaOne, around 20 women and 11 children were on board. Many passengers were reportedly asleep at the time of the collision.

Pilgrims Returning from Umrah
The pilgrims had completed their Umrah rituals in Mecca and were en route to Madinah when the accident occurred. Local sources cited by MediaOne reported 42 fatalities, though officials have yet to confirm the exact death toll.

The cause of the crash has not been officially established. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, along with the travel agency organising the trip, have confirmed the incident. Authorities have said that further details will emerge as the investigation continues.
