Pakistan secured a 3-0 victory over China in their Pool B match at the 2026 Asian Games men’s hockey competition on Thursday, recording their third consecutive win of the tournament.
Captain Abubakar Mahmood, Sufyan and Hannan Shahid scored for Pakistan as the Green Shirts maintained their unbeaten start to the competition.
Pakistan dominate second quarter
The opening quarter ended without a goal, with both teams struggling to create a breakthrough.
Pakistan eventually opened the scoring in the 19th minute when captain Mahmood converted a penalty corner.
Sufyan doubled Pakistan’s advantage five minutes later, also finding the net from a penalty-corner opportunity.
Hannan Shahid then added a third goal in the 28th minute with a field goal, completing a dominant second-quarter spell for the Green Shirts.
Pakistan entered halftime with a 3-0 lead and successfully protected their advantage during the second half.
Despite Zikriya Hayat receiving a green card in the penultimate quarter, Pakistan remained in control as China failed to score before the final whistle.

Third straight victory for Green Shirts
The win marked Pakistan’s third consecutive victory in the men’s field hockey competition.
Pakistan opened their campaign with a commanding 9-0 win over Thailand before defeating Uzbekistan 5-1 in their second league-stage match.
The three victories have taken Pakistan to nine points and second place in Pool B, with a goal difference of +16.
Malaysia currently lead the group with the same number of points but a superior goal difference of +24.

Pakistan will face Malaysia in their next league-stage fixture on Saturday at the same venue.
The match will be important in determining the top position in Pool B, with both teams entering the contest on nine points after three matches.
