Demand for tickets to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027 has surged past 15 million applications within 12 days of the ticket ballot opening, underlining the growing international excitement for the tournament.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Tuesday that it had received 15,083,752 ticket applications, with 4,423,417 ballot registrations generated by fans from 142 countries.

The figures represent a sharp increase from the one million applications reported during the previous week, highlighting the rapid growth in interest ahead of the 14th edition of the men’s One Day International World Cup.

The tournament will be hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia from October 2 to November 21, 2027.

ICC Highlights Unprecedented Global Interest

ICC Chief Executive Officer Sanjog Gupta said the strong demand reflected the tournament’s international appeal, the attraction of Africa as a host destination and promotional efforts by the governing body and its partners.

“The overwhelming demand for tickets is testament to the stature and appeal of the Cricket World Cup, the allure of Africa as a destination and the anticipation for the event generated by the ICC and its partners’ promotional activities leading up to the event launch,” Gupta said.

He added that the ICC was preparing a year-long programme of activities designed to build excitement among cricket fans across different platforms.

“With a year to go, the ICC has planned an exciting runway of 360 degree activations, multi-platform campaigns and content line-ups, which will elevate the fandom associated with the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027,” he said.

Ticket Ballot Remains Open Until November 21

Cricket fans can register for the ticket ballot until November 21, 2026, exactly one year before the scheduled World Cup final.

The final is set to take place at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The ballot system allows fans to register their interest in securing tickets, although the number of applications does not necessarily represent the number of individual ticket holders or confirmed purchases.

With registrations continuing, the final level of demand could rise further before the deadline.

Three African Nations to Host World Cup

The 2027 tournament will be staged across South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, bringing international cricket to venues in three African countries.

The ICC has described the event as one of the most ambitious editions in the tournament’s history, with preparations and promotional campaigns expected to intensify as the competition approaches.

The latest figures suggest that anticipation is already building well ahead of the opening match, with interest extending far beyond the host nations.

With more than 15 million ticket applications recorded in less than two weeks, the World Cup has made an impressive early mark as cricket fans look ahead to the global tournament in 2027.
