Girls Outperform Boys in AJK and Swat Intermediate Board Results 2025

Annual examination results highlight growing trend of female academic excellence in Pakistan

Results Announced in Mirpur, AJK

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Mirpur, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), has announced the results of its 2025 intermediate examinations. Once again, female students have outperformed their male counterparts, continuing a trend seen in previous years across the region.

According to the official spokesperson of the board, Isra Umar secured the top position by scoring 1,161 out of 1,200 marks. Hina Babar achieved second place with 1,159 marks, while Iqra Azhar stood third with 1,158 marks. All three students were praised for their outstanding academic performance and dedication.

Swat Board Also Declares Results

Alongside AJK, the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Swat also declared the results of Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) Part I examinations. These results covered students from Swat and Shangla districts, with many achieving strong marks.

Board officials noted that this year’s results reflect an upward trend in performance, crediting students’ hard work as well as the support of teachers and parents.

Stronger Performance by Female Students

The dominance of female students in top positions has become a recurring feature of annual results in Pakistan. For example, in Hyderabad’s Matric Science Results 2025, girls also secured all top positions, reflecting the same trend nationwide. Education experts say this reflects the growing investment of families in girls’ education, particularly in urban and semi-urban areas.

In Mirpur’s results, all three top positions were secured by female students — a pattern that has been witnessed in several other boards across the country in recent years. According to a 2023 report by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, female literacy rates in AJK now stand at over 67%, higher than the national average for women, which remains around 62%.

Board Officials Praise Efforts

At the announcement ceremony, education board officials congratulated both students and teachers. They emphasized that education remains central to Pakistan’s progress and called for continued investment in schools, especially for girls.

“Improved performance by female students is a positive sign for the country’s future,” one official said. “It shows not only the determination of young women but also a gradual improvement in the education system.”

Parents and teachers also expressed pride in their students’ success, noting that the results reflect years of hard work. They added that such achievements inspire younger students to aim higher in academics.

Success Rates Show Positive Trend

This year’s results also recorded an overall pass percentage that was higher than in previous years, according to board officials. Although detailed statistics were not released, the upward trend signals improvements in teaching standards and examination preparation.

Education experts highlight that while progress is evident, challenges remain. Rural areas still lag behind in literacy rates, and many students face barriers such as limited access to resources, long travel distances to schools, and economic pressures on families.

Education and National Development

Pakistan continues to face significant challenges in education. According to UNICEF, around 22.8 million children aged 5–16 are still out of school, the second-highest figure in the world. However, consistent improvements in examination results, especially by girls, reflect gradual progress in closing the gender gap.

Observers note that the academic success of students in AJK and Swat boards illustrates the transformative potential of education. Similar achievements were seen in the Rawalpindi Board Matric 2025 results, where position holders were celebrated for their outstanding performance. Female students’ achievements, in particular, highlight how empowering women through education can have far-reaching effects on society and the economy.

Looking Ahead

As Pakistan strives to meet its Sustainable Development Goal (SDG-4) of quality education, the latest results serve as both encouragement and a reminder of the work still ahead. Policymakers are being urged to address inequalities in rural areas and ensure that both boys and girls have equal opportunities to excel.

For now, the top-performing students in AJK and Swat are being celebrated by their families, teachers, and communities. Their accomplishments stand as a beacon of hope for the next generation of learners in Pakistan.
