Restrictions Announced Across the Province

The Balochistan government has imposed Section 144 across the province, prohibiting motorcycle double-riding and restricting public gatherings. The decision comes amid ongoing concerns over law and order.

According to a notification issued by the Balochistan Home Department, the new measures also target unregistered motorcycles, vehicles with tinted or blackened windows, and the transportation of explosives or other hazardous materials.

Public Safety Measures

The notification further stated that covering the face or wearing a mask in public areas will also be banned. Meanwhile, previous restrictions on displaying weapons, holding gatherings of five or more people, and organizing sit-ins remain in place.

Officials explained that these measures are designed to maintain public safety and prevent potential incidents that could disrupt law and order. Section 144, which allows authorities to prohibit assemblies and regulate movement temporarily, is a common legal tool in Pakistan used during periods of security concerns.

Duration and Enforcement

The restrictions are set to remain in effect until November 30. Law enforcement agencies will be responsible for monitoring compliance, particularly in urban centers and areas deemed high-risk. Authorities have urged citizens to cooperate to ensure the measures are implemented smoothly.

While the government has emphasized the temporary nature of these measures, the move highlights persistent security challenges in Balochistan, a province that has periodically faced unrest and militant activity in recent years.
