Beijing: China has reaffirmed its firm support for Iran’s right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. This declaration came during a meeting between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, where both sides discussed regional developments, the nuclear deal, and broader diplomatic ties.
Wang Yi emphasized that China stands by Iran in defending its sovereignty, national dignity, and security. He appreciated Iran’s resistance against power politics, external pressure, and unilateral sanctions, and reiterated China’s ongoing support for the Iranian people’s right to self-determination.
The Chinese foreign minister also welcomed Iran’s consistent position of not seeking to develop nuclear weapons. He stressed that Iran’s peaceful nuclear program is legitimate under international law and should not be viewed as a threat.
Highlighting diplomacy as the only viable path to resolve disputes, Wang Yi underscored that China opposes the use or threat of force in international affairs. He also praised Iran’s diplomatic efforts to bring stability to the Middle East and expressed China’s willingness to play a constructive role in supporting regional peace.
China further backed Iran’s continued negotiations with other international stakeholders, aiming to promote dialogue, de-escalation, and sustainable security in the region.
It is worth noting that Iran has repeatedly asserted that its nuclear program is entirely peaceful, while Western powers have long expressed concerns. As a permanent member of the UN Security Council, China has consistently supported Iran’s right to peaceful nuclear development.
