Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Tuesday announced a substantial financial assistance of Rs10 billion for security forces operating in Balochistan, underlining Punjab’s commitment to peace and stability in the province. The announcement was made during her official visit to Quetta, where she attended a ceremony at the Frontier Corps (FC) Headquarters.
Context of the Announcement
CM Maryam’s visit follows a series of coordinated attacks across 12 towns in Balochistan on January 31, which targeted civilians in Quetta, Mastung, Nushki, Dalbandin, Kharan, Panjgur, Tump, Gwadar, and Pasni. In response, security forces conducted Operation Raddul Fitna 1, successfully neutralizing 216 India-sponsored terrorists, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Tragically, the operations also resulted in the martyrdom of 36 innocent civilians, including women and children, and 22 personnel from security and law enforcement agencies.

Meeting with Balochistan Leadership
During her visit, CM Maryam met Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. She praised the resilience and patriotism of the people of Balochistan, stating, “The spirit of the people of Balochistan and their attachment to Pakistan is commendable. We stand with Balochistan. The elimination of terrorism is possible through national unity, and we want to see peace, stability, and prosperity in Balochistan.”

Earlier, CM Maryam also held a meeting with Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail at the Governor House. The discussions focused on the province’s law and order situation, recent political developments, and strengthening inter-provincial cooperation. Governor Mandokhail emphasized the importance of promoting harmony between federal and provincial governments and enhancing people-to-people connections.
Commitment to Future Cooperation
CM Maryam Nawaz assured continued support and collaboration with Balochistan, while both leaders agreed on enhancing ties between the provinces. As a gesture of goodwill, Governor Mandokhail presented the Punjab chief minister with a commemorative shield and a traditional carpet.
The announcement and visit reflect Punjab’s active role in supporting Balochistan during a critical period and highlight the significance of national unity in combating terrorism and fostering long-term stability in the region.
