FAISALABAD: Eyman Fatima produced a sensational batting performance to lead Invincibles to a commanding 72-run victory over Challengers on the opening day of the National Women’s T20 Tournament in Faisalabad on Saturday. In the other fixture, Conquerors defeated Stars by 16 runs after successfully defending a modest total.

At Bohranwali Ground, Eyman smashed 100 off just 49 deliveries, hitting 12 fours and six sixes to power Invincibles to 175-4 in their allotted 20 overs.

Sidra Amin provided valuable support with an unbeaten 48, helping Invincibles establish a challenging target. Umm-e-Hani and Rabia Rani claimed two wickets each for Challengers, conceding 19 and 26 runs respectively.

Eyman’s century leads Invincibles to victory

Challengers struggled to keep pace with the required run rate during their reply and were bowled out for 103 in 17 overs.

Ayesha Zafar top-scored with 27, but the batting side could not recover from the loss of wickets as Invincibles maintained pressure throughout the innings.

Leg-spinner Syeda Aroob Shah led the bowling attack, taking three wickets for 24 runs to help secure a comprehensive victory.

Eyman was named player of the match in recognition of her match-winning century, which gave Invincibles an emphatic start to their tournament campaign.

Conquerors defend 120 to beat Stars

In the second match, played at Jawad Club, Conquerors defended a total of 120-9 to defeat Stars by 16 runs.

Gull Rukh was the leading contributor with the bat, scoring 42 to help Conquerors post a competitive total despite losing wickets regularly.

Samina Aftab spearheaded Stars’ bowling effort with figures of two wickets for four runs, while Momina Riasat and Diana Baig claimed two wickets each.

Stars struggled during their chase of 121 and were dismissed for 104 in 19.3 overs. Minahil top-scored with 35, but Conquerors kept control of the contest through disciplined bowling and regular breakthroughs.

Humna Bilal and Neha Shermeen took two wickets each to seal the victory. Gull Rukh was named player of the match for her contribution with the bat.

Women’s T20 tournament gets underway

The opening day’s results gave Invincibles and Conquerors early victories as the participating teams began their campaigns in Faisalabad.
