Diesel and petrol prices in the global market have surged by 10 to 12 percent, mainly due to a sharp 50% increase in tanker freight charges, according to industry sources.
As per details, the freight rate for oil tankers from the Gulf region was around $14 per ton on June 12, but it has now jumped to approximately $21 per ton.
Industry insiders also reported that the international petrol price has risen from $76 to $82 per barrel, while diesel rates have increased from $82 to $93 per barrel.
Additionally, the price of JP-1 jet fuel has also increased from $80 to $90 per ton, driven by growing shipping and operational costs in key oil supply routes.
