Lahore – Medical experts have raised serious concerns that more than half of all deaths in Pakistan are caused by heart disease, with silent organ damage playing a major role. They revealed that liver and kidney disorders often become apparent only after 90% damage has already occurred, which in turn impacts the arteries of the heart and can trigger heart attacks.
These revelations came during a recent medical seminar, where a professor collapsed while teaching—a case that sparked public speculation. Experts firmly dismissed any link between the incident and COVID-19 vaccination, calling such assumptions medically irresponsible in the absence of confirmed diagnosis.
Renowned cardiologist Dr. Akhtar Bandesha explained that there are two primary types of heart attacks. The first involves severe chest pain, prompting immediate hospitalization. In the second, instead of a complete heart stoppage, the heart experiences rapid fibrillation, causing sudden drops in blood pressure that can lead to collapse. In such situations, rapid intervention using chest compressions or a defibrillator is critical to revive the heartbeat.
Medical professionals emphasized that the most effective way to prevent heart attacks is through positive lifestyle changes. Diets high in fats and cholesterol, smoking, and a sedentary lifestyle are among the leading causes of cardiovascular disease. Incorporating light to moderate daily exercise, a balanced diet, and stress management not only strengthens the heart but also promotes overall well-being.
It is worth noting that in recent years, there has been a noticeable increase in heart attacks among younger individuals. Health experts have consistently warned that prevention is the best cure when it comes to cardiovascular health.
