DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has fined Pakistan’s women’s team for maintaining a slow over-rate during their ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026 semi-final against Sri Lanka in Dubai.
The Pakistan team was fined 5% of its match fees after being found one over short of the required rate once time allowances were taken into account.
The sanction was imposed by GS Lakshmi of the ICC International Panel of Match Referees.
Fatima Sana accepts charge
Under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, players are fined 5% of their match fee for every over their team fails to bowl within the allotted time.
Pakistan captain Fatima Sana accepted the charge on behalf of the team, meaning a formal hearing was not required.
The charge was brought by on-field umpires Vrinda Rathi and Shathira Jakir Jesy, third umpire Rokeya Sultana and fourth umpire Rabab Ahsan.
The penalty comes shortly after Pakistan’s elimination from the tournament following a four-wicket defeat against defending champions Sri Lanka in the second semi-final.

Sri Lanka chase down 131-run target
Pakistan were asked to bat first and posted 130 for five in their allotted 20 overs.
Fatima Sana led the scoring effort with an unbeaten 47 off 36 deliveries. Her innings included four fours and two sixes as Pakistan set Sri Lanka a target of 131.
Sri Lanka successfully chased down the target for the loss of six wickets with eight balls remaining.
Fatima provided a strong all-round performance, taking four wickets during Sri Lanka’s chase, but her efforts were not enough to prevent the defending champions from reaching the final.
Sri Lanka’s victory earned them a place in the tournament final against India.
