Islamabad – Senior PTI leader and prominent legal expert Salman Akram Raja has stated that Imran Khan’s sons have every legal and constitutional right to return to Pakistan, adding that their return is not just expected but fully justified.
Speaking to the media outside the KP House in Islamabad, Raja emphasized,
“Their return is their fundamental right, and they will come back.”
The statement was made during a luncheon organized in honor of PTI’s National and Provincial Assembly members. Key figures including Opposition Leader Omar Ayub, Ali Amin Gandapur, and other party leaders were in attendance. Discussions focused on future political strategy, Senate elections, and the party’s public outreach campaign.
Raja further clarified that the PTI delegation’s visit to Lahore is solely aimed at holding meetings with party leadership to discuss the country’s political and economic crisis. “The caravan is going to discuss public issues; there’s no intention of confrontation or unrest,” he said.
Citing Article 19 of the Constitution, Salman Akram Raja emphasized the right to freedom of expression, which he claims is being unjustly suppressed in the current climate.
Meanwhile, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan reinforced the party’s legal stance, stating that there is no legal basis for arrests and that all actions by the leadership are within the constitutional framework. He added that the Lahore visit includes critical meetings related to the upcoming Senate elections.
It is worth noting that PML-N leaders had recently raised concerns over the possible return of Imran Khan’s sons, prompting PTI leaders to defend the move as a legal and constitutional right. The party has made it clear that any such return is not only legitimate but also fully aligned with democratic values.
