In an unusual marketing stunt, Netflix has turned a billboard on Sunset Boulevard into a real-life room, where actor and experiential producer Nathan Shoop is spending several days as part of the promotion for The Last House.
A Billboard Becomes a Real-Life Room
Netflix has taken an unconventional approach to promoting its upcoming film The Last House by placing an actual person inside a specially constructed billboard in Los Angeles.
Rather than relying solely on traditional trailers, posters or digital advertising, the streaming company has built a complete enclosed room into a billboard on Sunset Boulevard.
Actor and experiential producer Nathan Shoop entered the elevated installation on Thursday, August 6, and is scheduled to leave on Saturday, August 8.
The unusual setup has turned the billboard into a real-life version of the central idea behind the movie.
Actor ‘Stuck’ 30 Feet Above the Street
According to Netflix, Shoop is spending several days inside the structure, approximately 30 feet above the ground at the intersection of Selma Avenue and Sunset Boulevard.
The company told The Hollywood Reporter that Shoop will attempt to maintain a sense of normalcy while being “stuck” inside the enclosed space.
He is also interacting with commuters and pedestrians below using a whiteboard, creating a visual connection between the marketing stunt and the film’s storyline.
The unusual installation has effectively transformed an ordinary advertising space into a live promotional experience.
Marketing Mirrors the Film’s Story
The stunt closely reflects the premise of The Last House, which stars Greta Lee and Wagner Moura.
The film follows a family of four who suddenly find themselves trapped inside their home with no apparent way to escape.
As their supplies begin to run out, the family must find a way to survive while trying to understand what is keeping them confined.
By placing a person inside an enclosed space high above a busy Los Angeles street, Netflix has recreated the film’s central theme in a way that can be seen by people passing beneath the billboard.

Shoop Takes on an Unusual Role
Shoop is an actor and experiential producer based in Los Angeles. His professional background combines acting with creative production and the development of live experiences.
According to his professional profile, Shoop began his career as an actor before moving into creative production.
He has described his work as being focused on turning creative concepts into real-world experiences, from the initial idea through to final production.
That background makes him a natural fit for a promotional campaign that combines performance, advertising and an unusual live installation.
Netflix Goes Beyond Traditional Promotion
The campaign demonstrates how streaming platforms are increasingly experimenting with unconventional ways to attract attention to new films.
Instead of simply placing a large image or title on a billboard, Netflix has created an experience that people can physically observe while travelling along one of Los Angeles’ busiest streets.
The concept is also closely connected to the movie’s story, making the billboard more than a conventional advertisement.
For several days, commuters and passersby can watch Shoop living inside the elevated room and communicating with them from above—effectively turning the film’s theme of isolation into a real-world spectacle.
