RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Navy has seized narcotics worth approximately $96 million during two counter-narcotics operations in the Arabian Sea, the military’s media wing said on Wednesday.
The operations were carried out by Pakistan Navy Ship Yarmook while deployed at extended ranges offshore, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
During the operations, naval personnel intercepted two dhows suspected of being involved in illicit trafficking.
2,850kg of narcotics recovered
According to ISPR, approximately 850kg of ice and 2,000kg of hashish or cannabis were recovered from concealed compartments inside the two vessels.
The total quantity of narcotics seized was approximately 2,850kg, with an estimated value of $96 million.
The drugs were taken into custody following the operations and will be handed over to the relevant authorities for further disposal and legal proceedings, ISPR said.
The military did not provide further details about the origin or intended destination of the seized narcotics, nor did it disclose whether any arrests were made during the interceptions.

The operations were conducted as part of the Pakistan Navy’s continuing efforts to counter illicit trafficking in the Arabian Sea.
ISPR said the seizures demonstrated the navy’s sustained presence and vigilance at sea and reflected its commitment to strengthening regional maritime security.
The Pakistan Navy regularly participates in maritime security and counter-narcotics operations in coordination with national and international agencies.
The latest seizures underscore the role of naval forces in monitoring maritime routes and preventing the movement of illegal drugs through the region.
The seized narcotics will now be processed by the concerned authorities in accordance with legal procedures, according to ISPR.
