Bangladesh Climb, India Drop in WTC Rankings

With the latest result, Bangladesh moved up to fifth position in the WTC table after securing two wins, one defeat, and one draw from four matches. They now have 28 points with a win percentage of 58.33, overtaking India, who slipped to sixth place.

India have recorded four wins, four defeats, and one draw in nine Tests, collecting 52 points with a win percentage of 48.15.

At the top of the table, Australia continue to lead with a dominant record of seven wins and one defeat from eight matches, giving them 84 points and a win percentage of 87.50. New Zealand and South Africa occupy second and third positions respectively.

Pakistan, meanwhile, have struggled significantly, managing just one win and three defeats from their four matches so far. Their win percentage has dropped to 8.33, placing them in eighth position.

Sylhet Test Decides Series Sweep

Bangladesh sealed the series early on the final day in Sylhet by taking the last three Pakistan wickets in the morning session. The hosts successfully defended a challenging target of 437, bowling Pakistan out for 358 in 97.2 overs.

PCB launches probe into Mohammad Nawaz after reported positive drug test

A strong spin performance from Taijul Islam proved decisive as he dismantled Pakistan’s batting lineup with figures of 6 for 120 in a long spell of 34.2 overs. He was well supported by Nahid Rana, who took two wickets, while Shoriful Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz claimed one wicket each.

Rizwan’s Resistance Goes in Vain

Pakistan’s chase showed resistance through Mohammad Rizwan, who played a fighting innings of 94 off 166 balls, hitting 10 boundaries. Sajid Khan also contributed 28 runs off 36 deliveries, striking five fours in a brief counterattack.

Despite these efforts, Pakistan’s batting unit failed to build sustained partnerships, eventually falling short against disciplined bowling and consistent spin pressure from the home side.

Growing Concerns for Pakistan in WTC Campaign

The defeat highlights Pakistan’s early struggles in the current World Test Championship cycle, with inconsistency in both batting and bowling contributing to their poor position in the standings. With several matches still ahead, the team will need a significant turnaround to remain competitive in the race for a place in the WTC final.
