Lancashire Cricket Club Apologizes Over Mistreatment of Pakistani Fan

Fan Asked to Remove Pakistan Shirt During India-England Test at Old Trafford

Lancashire County Cricket Club has officially apologized after a Pakistani cricket fan was asked to leave the stadium during the recent India vs England Test match for wearing a Pakistan team shirt.

The incident, covered in detail here, took place a few days ago at the historic Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester. The fan, Farooq Nazar, said he was peacefully watching the match when security staff told him to either remove or cover his Pakistan shirt—otherwise, he would have to leave the ground.

Farooq said, “I was just enjoying the game when I was stopped and told to take off my Pakistan shirt or leave the stadium.”

The event sparked criticism internationally, with many calling it unfair and against the true spirit of sports.

In response, Lancashire Cricket Club issued a statement expressing regret for any hurt or embarrassment caused. The club said their aim is to welcome all fans, and discrimination of any kind is unacceptable.

The club also confirmed that they are conducting a full investigation to ensure such incidents do not happen again.

Social media users also strongly supported the Pakistani fan, calling the incident “unjust” and against sportsmanship values.
