Princess Alexandra has sparked concern over her health after she was unable to attend a royal event at the last minute, despite initially being listed as present in an official record of royal engagements.
According to the Court Circular, Princess Alexandra attended a performance by students and alumni of Future Talent at Sinfonia Smith Square in Westminster on Sunday. The event celebrated the legacy of the charity’s co-founder, Katharine, Duchess of Kent.
However, royal editor Richard Eden later confirmed that the entry was incorrect and that Princess Alexandra had not attended the event.
Princess Alexandra pulled out at last minute
Eden reported that the princess had withdrawn from the engagement shortly before it was due to take place.
“The princess unfortunately had to pull out at the last moment,” a source was quoted as saying.
The correction has drawn attention because Princess Alexandra, who turns 90 on Christmas Day this year, has made fewer public appearances in recent months.
Her most recent reported public appearance came nearly six months ago, when she attended a reception at Buckingham Palace marking the centenary of the birth of her first cousin, Queen Elizabeth.

Princess Alexandra had reportedly been determined to attend a concert commemorating the life of Katharine, Duchess of Kent, who died at the age of 92.
The Duchess of Kent was regarded as a longstanding member of the royal family and was particularly close to several senior royals.
Her death was followed by tributes from members of the family, including Catherine, Princess of Wales, who had shared a close connection with her.
Princess Alexandra’s absence from the recent event has therefore attracted attention amid reports about her reduced public schedule.
Royal editor Richard Eden described the princess as “too frail” to attend some public engagements, while noting that she had nevertheless been keen to attend the event honouring the late Duchess of Kent.
The Court Circular entry has since been clarified, but no official statement has provided further details about Princess Alexandra’s health.
