Putin and Macron Hold Two-Hour Call on Iran’s Nuclear Program and Middle East Tensions

Leaders Emphasize Diplomatic Solutions Amid Rising Regional Unrest and Stalled Nuclear Talks

Russian President Vladimir Putin and French President Emmanuel Macron held a two-hour-long phone conversation discussing Iran’s nuclear program and the escalating tensions in the Middle East. Both leaders emphasized the importance of resolving the issue through diplomatic means.

According to international news agencies, President Macron expressed his concerns over Iran’s nuclear activities, stating that Tehran must ensure its nuclear energy program remains strictly for peaceful purposes. He urged Iran to fully cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and strictly adhere to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

On the other hand, President Vladimir Putin defended Iran’s stance, asserting that Tehran’s nuclear program is intended for peaceful use and that, under the NPT, Iran has the right to pursue civilian nuclear energy. He stressed that the international community should respect Iran’s sovereignty and security.

Both leaders shared their deep concern over the rising tensions in the region and agreed that the Iranian nuclear issue must be resolved solely through diplomatic channels. They also discussed ways to make the ongoing international negotiations more effective.

Analysts note that this dialogue between Russia and France comes at a time when progress on reviving the nuclear agreement between Iran and Western powers remains sluggish, and tensions in the Middle East have reached new heights.
