ISLAMABAD: Security forces have killed three terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Balochistan’s Awaran district, security sources said on Thursday.
The operation was conducted in the Badrang area of Awaran as part of the ongoing intelligence-based operations under the Rad-ul-Fitna-3 campaign, according to the sources.
Security forces also recovered a large quantity of weapons and ammunition from the militants following the operation.
Recent operation in Mastung
The latest IBO comes days after security forces killed three militants, including a suspected commander, during an operation in Balochistan’s Mastung district.
According to security sources, three terrorists, including a militant identified as Naqeeb, were killed in that operation. Their vehicle was also destroyed.
Security forces have continued intelligence-based operations in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as part of efforts to counter militant activity.

Balochistan, KP remain key violence hotspots
Pakistan has witnessed increased militant activity, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since 2021, when the Afghan Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan.
According to a report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), the two provinces remained the country’s main hotspots for violence during the second quarter of 2026.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was the worst-affected region during the period, accounting for more than 61% of the country’s violence-related fatalities. The province recorded 475 deaths, while Balochistan accounted for 265 fatalities, or 34% of the nationwide total.
Together, the two provinces accounted for nearly 96% of all violence-related deaths recorded across Pakistan during the quarter, according to the report.
KP also recorded the highest number of violent incidents, with 151 cases, representing 57% of the national total. Balochistan followed with 94 incidents, accounting for 35%.
The figures underline the continued concentration of militant violence in the two provinces, where security forces have maintained counterterrorism operations.
