Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa – A tragic Swat River Flood has caused widespread devastation, resulting in the deaths of 7 tourists, with 11 others still missing, including 10 members of the same family.
According to Dunya News, the Swat flood 2025 was triggered by heavy monsoon rains, submerging low-lying areas and causing rivers and streams to overflow. The sudden flash flood in Swat caught many tourists by surprise, sweeping them into the raging waters.

Adnan, a tourist from Daska, shared his painful experience:
“Four women and six children from my family were swept away by the flood while we were having breakfast by the river. Three more people also drowned.”
This sudden swat river flood overwhelmed nearby regions with intense currents, making rescue efforts extremely challenging. DG Rescue KP, Shah Fahad, reported that 30 individuals have been rescued, while rescue operations in Swat continue in five separate areas. Water levels in the river remain dangerously high.
Despite dangerous conditions, 80 rescue personnel are actively involved in the ongoing rescue operation in Swat. So far, the bodies of four victims, including two children, have been recovered. Authorities are struggling against strong currents and poor weather to reach the remaining missing persons.
Officials have warned tourists and locals to avoid visiting rivers and streams, as further rainfall is expected in the coming days. The Deputy Commissioner of Swat reminded the public that Section 144 is in place to prohibit entry near riverbanks, but the law is often ignored.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep grief over the tragic incident caused by the Swat River Flood at Khwazakhela. He directed all relevant departments to accelerate search operations and to enhance safety protocols near rivers and waterways.
