Thousands of current and former YouTube TV subscribers may be eligible to receive money from a $7.5 million class-action settlement involving allegations that subscription renewal terms were not properly disclosed.
The lawsuit was filed against Google and YouTube TV in June 2020. The case alleged that the companies violated California’s Automatic Renewal Law by failing to clearly explain certain subscription terms and obtain customers’ consent before automatically charging them for renewal periods.
Google and YouTube TV denied wrongdoing. However, the companies agreed to a settlement to resolve the litigation and avoid the costs and uncertainty associated with continuing the case.
Who Is Eligible for the YouTube TV Settlement?
The settlement is aimed at California residents who meet specific requirements.
To qualify, a person generally must have been enrolled in and paid for at least one renewal period of a YouTube TV subscription between February 1, 2017, and October 29, 2021.
The subscription must also have been purchased through YouTube billing and used for personal or household purposes.
Because eligibility depends on the specific terms of the settlement, potential claimants should review the official settlement information and their individual notice before submitting a claim.
How Much Could Subscribers Receive?
The estimated settlement payment is approximately $92.26 per eligible claimant.
However, the final amount is not guaranteed. The actual payment will depend on the total number of valid claims submitted and other factors outlined in the settlement agreement.
This means the eventual payment could be different from the currently estimated figure.
Eligible claimants can choose from several payment methods. These include electronic options such as ACH transfer, PayPal, Venmo and Zelle, as well as a virtual prepaid card or traditional paper check.

August 30 Is the Claim Deadline
The deadline for submitting a claim is August 30, 2026.
Eligible subscribers who received a settlement notice can submit their claims through the official settlement website using the login ID and PIN included in their notice.
People who did not receive a notice may still be able to participate. According to the settlement information, they can download a claim form from the website and send it by mail to the settlement administrator.
Potential claimants should make sure their information is accurate and submit the required documentation before the deadline. Missing the deadline could mean losing the opportunity to receive a payment from the settlement.
Final Approval Hearing Scheduled
The settlement has not yet completed the entire court approval process. A final approval hearing is scheduled for October 15, 2026.
At that hearing, the court is expected to consider whether the proposed settlement should receive final approval.
The case stems from allegations concerning automatic subscription renewals and whether consumers were adequately informed about renewal terms before being charged.
Google and YouTube TV have not admitted wrongdoing as part of the settlement. Instead, the agreement is intended to resolve the claims without the companies continuing to litigate the allegations.
For eligible California subscribers, the most immediate date to remember is August 30. Anyone who believes they qualify should review the settlement requirements and submit a valid claim before the deadline if they wish to seek a share of the settlement fund.
